Although we did not have any rain today much of the morning ride was under cloudy skies and the temperature was cool.
After lunch we got back on the road to finish the last 30 miles into New Roads, LA and the clouds still loomed overhead.
Then, just as we were beginning to climb the bridge up and over the Mississippi River the skies parted and the sun came out which was a welcome surprise that made the last few hours riding really pleasant.
As a celebration of our last day riding together before my dad and mom head down the coast of Texas and I head out due west towards Austin we stopped in for a meal at Ma Mama's Kitchen, a Cajun and creole style restaurant that we saw riding into town. And when I say that this food was good it would be the understatement of the century and would do it no justice. This was quite possibly the coolest place and best food that I have ever tasted. Our waitress Angela completed the experience. (Lots of pictures below)
Tomorrow marks the first day of riding that I will head out on my own and I'm excited to start this new part of the adventure.

Homes, love following your blog bro, keep the stories and pics coming. When you're doing these 80-100 mile days, how long are you on the bike? Do you mostly just listen to music and podcasts, and if so, what's high up on your recently played list? What kind of roads are you riding along--typically small, relatively deserted roads? What's been the most scenic portion of your ride? What about your favorite city? Are you tired of my questions yet?

Thank you, Fish, for these wonderful questions. We normally spend between 7-9 hours biking depending on the weather and road conditions and how many miles we are trying to get. For the first days that we rode I didn't listen to anything. Just the sound of wind rushing through my curvaceous helmet straps. The last few days that I have been riding alone I've been rocking out to some Pandora (the kopecky family band). As for the roads, they range from country roads with only a few cars passing you every 15 to 20 minutes to more highway and everything in between... Had some pretty crazy dirt roads yesterday. I really liked Florida as you got out into the country and away from the coast. Just huge farm fields and pine tree farms and flat. Besides that I really liked the whole ride as I got towards Gulf Shores. Most of that ride was right on the water which was cool. Favorite city has been New Roads where I got the best meal of my life. Love your inquisitive mind, Fish. Keep 'em coming.
